Equine Touch for all horses - horses at rest and competing

Emma Knowles

A career break to go travelling around the world provided Emma with the opportunity to really get back in touch with horses once again. Experiencing horses in the USA with native Americans, to working on a station in Australia and New Zealand, to even being an extra on horse back in the movie Lord of the Rings!

"Horses have taken me to places and heights I had only ever dreamed and one thing I learnt from all of this was; it is usually the simplest thing that you can do for your horse that can have the biggest impact."

Upon returning to the UK from New Zealand in 2002 Emma started to look for a natural holistic approach to working with horses, wanting to build on what she had learnt from travelling. This is when Emma met Lara Neighbour who introduced her to 'Equine Touch'. Emma had been volunteering at a BHS Rescue Centre in Stratford and had watched Lara work on some of the rescue horses with many amazing results.

Keen to learn more Emma started studying the Equine Touch in 2002 down at Horseworld in Bristol and has since completed the practitioner's level and recently become a tutor. This means she will be supporting the work Lyn and Neill have already been undertaking in the UK - sharing the Equine Touch with horse lovers.

Emma would like to begin to give back in her lifetime as much as she can to the horse and Equine Touch has certainly opened this door! Emma is also a member of Intelligent Horsemanship adopting the methods of Monty Roberts and Kelly Marks.

Emma also works as a Work-Life Balance Co-ordinator within Solihull raising awareness of the benefits of a healthy work-life balance, and it could be said this applies to horses as well as humans.
